Amazing insights about musicians and the music business. So appreciate the reprint and the fact that you are still here to tell the story!

That left me with mixed emotions, but it was beautiful and thoughtfully written. I do stream, of course, but I still buy music and go to concerts too…That still supports the artists, right?

Beautiful and heartbreaking.

(Also I love your recording of "I'd Be Lonesome"! It's an absolute favorite track of mine.)

A bit depressing for sure .... hopefully there is some way to get some real change.

Hope you got something from the Google lawsuit mess other than just simply dropping the suit.?

Great article. I am all Apple, but I still buy my songs/albums from iTunes rather than stream them. Is this more beneficial for the artist? Or is it such a small difference that it doesn’t really matter?

Last night, we were walking back from a They Might Be Giants show to our car and overheard the folks behind us trying to work out the business model of how the band was making a profit, factoring in the share of the ticket price, cost of crew, etc and said “well maybe they tour to drive up their plays on Spotify”. Remembering what I’ve learned from you I couldn’t help but laugh at the naïveté. Really I know that it is sad, because I want to support the things that make my life better and that includes beautiful music.

Man, I need to take time with this one. Too close to home ( but a home long ago, far away). So looking forward to it-evening plans! Also reading and music assignments for names not on my reading/playlists. This is the best investment I have made.....in a loong time.
